"i'm sexy, i'm cute. the appearance is everything."
HEIGHT//
being as powerful and mighty as he is, hades reaches just about six feet and two inches. even when he is slumped over and feeling lazy, he's meets an intimidating height. carefully poised bloodlines and the eternal life comprise his overbearing height.
WEIGHT//
hades likes to believe that he feeds off the energy of the decaying souls that pass through the underworld. being that he is a deity, he doesn't find it necessary to eat in order to exist and therefore remains at a standard weight of one hundred and seventy-five pounds. he's not nearly as heavy and overweight as some of the gods up at olympus who merely sit around and eat their ripened grapes on a daily basis.
BODY TYPE//
frankly, hades has an average to muscular body type. he is neither obese nor anorexic and is pleased with his looks. hades uses a vast majority of his strength to accent his overall power but the muscles he possesses are indeed a focal point as well.
HAIR COLOR//
though he is the king of the underworld and enjoys all things dark, hades tends to stray from darkening his appearance. therefore, his hair is a natural brown which remains at a socially acceptable length. he’s handsome enough with the hair he was given and doesn’t believe in altering it in anyway.
EYE COLOR//
with a set of brilliant emerald eyes, one does not expect the chill that comes from them. hades has the most brilliant emerald eyes of anyone you’ve ever met, mortal or supernatural. not only are they a vibrant color, but he tends to hold all of his emotion behind them. hades is not a person to easily convey his expression(other than rage) through his face and thus, he does so with his eyes. he tends to hide behind them in the deepest of situations and avoids the gaze of others for fear of showing his all-telling eyes.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES//
there are multiple features that set hades apart from the rest of the gods and goddesses. unlike most of the other deities, hades is the ruler of the underworld and isn’t always considered to be as elegant and beautiful as most. being that he is surrounded by havoc and decay on a daily basis, hades has picked up on the deathly look. his complexion is much paler than expected to be and he isn’t always as healthy looking as his brother zeus, for instance. in fact, he tends to look more like a ghost or part of the underworld rather than a god.
despite his ghostly complexion, hades’ facial features are distinguishable and rather charming in the grand scheme of things. he’s got a carefully defined nose and a set jaw with expressive eyebrows. hades rarely portrays any emotion other than pure rage and anger across his face but with such features, it is easy to do so. when he’s not upset, hades can be a rather attractive man. he is fair-minded when it comes to being with persephone, but in the months when she isn’t with him, hades isn’t challenged with finding other women to share his time with. his facial features are enough to attract any woman to the dark man.
being that he is dark and not supposed to be a conveyor of happiness, it seems close to ironic that hades has such a perfect smile. it is often misleading and he is able to convince just about anyone otherwise with the charming smirk. he helps to display his pleasure in torturing souls or being cruel with one flash of his malicious grin. with a perfect set of teeth and cold, curving lips, hades gives off the appearance that he is quite possible the cruelest of cruel.

FULL PERSONALITY//
when it comes down to it, hades is an extremely sexist person. he sees himself as the epitome of all males and is always making dirty jokes. though he comes off corny in some situations, he has a sly personality that often comes out when he’s around members of the opposite sex. though he has a habit of telling dirty jokes, some of them are somewhat charming.
being that hades is the ruler of the underworld and defies the rest of the gods, its safe to say that he doesn’t have too many morals. he doesn’t praise his brother for being the god of all gods and refuses to worship or respect them in any way. he has the idea in his head that he is the only of much importance, and thus, he is terribly selfish as well. hades can be ruthless and murderous if it means he receives what he wants, even if it goes against everything the rest of his family strives for. he will never help people who offer him sacrifices but on occasion will answer to curses.
hades runs from commitment at every chance he has. he’s married to persephone and that’s about as much commitment as he can handle for his entire eternal life, other than taking on the role as ruler of the underworld. seeing as persephone only lives with him for a certain number of months throughout the year, hades proves how disloyal he is by finding company in other women during his absence. he loves persephone dearly but often times draws mortal women to him in order to get his fix and have a fun time. hades cares about his wife a tremendous amount, but still, he fails with the idea of commitment on more than one level.
hades is directly the opposite of a people pleaser. the only time in which he acts somewhat civilized to people is when it involves the wellbeing of the underworld or sex. he tends to be extremely independent and refrains from helping others out at all costs, with the exception of matters pertaining the underworld. being that he’s a social butterfly and hardly ever outspoken, one would expect hades to be a bit more of a people pleaser though it is hardly so. on occasion, he’ll be able to charm the ladies by actually being nice, but most of the time he’s a pompous jerk.
hades only has two ways of dealing with pressure: getting extremely pissed off or just blowing the situation off altogether. in extremely serious cases, hades loses his temper. in such cases, the situation is resolved by hades screaming at the top of his lungs as well as numerous broken items. in other, less dramatic pressure situations, hades tends to just blow things off. there isn’t a whole lot he cares about and more often than not he’ll go out and have a few too many heinekens to just forget the situation completely.
there is no holding back with this guy. if hades sees something he wants, either material or immaterial, he keeps his eyes on the prize until he gets it. rarely does he back down or forget something that he wants just because he can’t reach it immediately. he’ll do just about anything he can to achieve his goal.

FULL HISTORY//
every figure has their own humble beginnings – with the exception of the gods. the name of zeus has been spread far and wide but as for his grim brother, the tale has been shushed. truth be told, hades sprung from the same bloodlines as zeus and poseidon alike. for you see, cronus and rhea were once the rulers of the world – titans instead of gods. they birthed not only the three great sons but hestia, demeter, and hera in turn as well. just as with his siblings before him, on the day of his birth, cronus swalled hades, most likely out of fear that his children were going to one day over throw him. oh how cronus had been right. it was here that hades lived, inside his father, until zeus reached adult hood. thanks to the cunningness of zeus, he had managed to escape and trick his father into consuming a potion. it had only taken a mere amount of time before the children of cronus had been regurgitated at once.
it was only necessary to grasp the power of the universe from the hands of the titans. the cyclopses granted the three brothers each with a weapon: zeus the lightning bolt, poseidon the trident, and hades the helmet of darkness. the night before the first battle was to occur, hades slipped on his invisibly helmet which allowed him to stealthy move in and destroy the camp of the titans. after ten years of brutality, the war finally drew to an end in favor of the gods. the universe had been divided into thirds: zeus taking the skies, poseidon the sea, and hades the underworld. since overthrowing the loins he had sprung from, hades had taking his new reign as the lord of the underworld. he oversaw the numerous rivers of the underworld which consisted of the rivers of sorrow, lamentation, fire, forgetfulness, and hate. though hades was never to be considered evil, he took on such a look. he often dwelled in among the spirits of the dead, claiming that he fed off their energy. as grim as the underworld often seemed, hades found a pleasure in operating the system of the undead, watching the days pass with awe.
hades was seen more as passive than evil and through his mind, a loneliness in such a morbid place arose in the heart of the king of the underworld. zeus had long since promised persephone to him as his wife and hades was growing increasingly anxious with the delay in such a promise. zeus had failed to warn persephone, or her mother Demeter, that she was to be hades’ future bride and it arose a bit of trouble. without wanting to force her into marriage, hades’ planted pomegranate seeds in which he suspected persephone would eat. as his speculation proved true, hades sprung to the earth in order to drag his bride back to his lair.
with demeter becoming increasingly upset with the absence of her daughter and lack of being able to locate her, zeus realized something else need be done. a three part agreement was created in which a third of the year was to be spend in the underworld with hades, a third with zeus, and a third with demeter. each year in which persephone is with her husband, demeter grows increasingly depressed, refusing to let the land flourish until her daughter has returned safely. hades loves his wife dearly, but in her absence, he has been known to chase after others such as mintha and leuce.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE//
though the audibility of the moans of the dead was something that hades had grown all too used to in his centuries as the protector of the underworld, it was these sounds that had taken him away from his catatonic-like state of sleeping. it had been only a mere month since he had last been with persephone and already he was missing her more than he could handle. he was warm for once, an unusual feeling when thriving among the dead and decaying souls and thus, the discomfort that ailed his pail flesh was what had caused him to rise from his chambers. it was too much, ruling the underworld, that is, but he would rather have suffered from a mortal death than lose what position he held in the scheme of things.
time after time, hades was forced to repeat the act of losing his wife for a vast majority of the year. he was graced with her presence for some four months out of the year in which he loved her, hell, even worshipped her. being that he was the lord of the underworld and s he his wife, she should have strove for his attention but in fact, she almost seemed to resent the fact that she was forced to be taken away from her mother and life in olympus. he loved her, indeed he did, but truth be told, hades was growing restless in her absence. he believed in maintaining the bond between his spouse but the seduction of mortal women was playing with his mind.
his clothing was plain and nothing that deserved any attention, plainer than any god should have been seen in. in fact, had anyone not known of him, they would have most likely assumed he was a common position in society. he left the dark colored bed sheets awry as he slid out from underneath them, paying little attention to the disintegrating canopy that often enveloped him in the preferred darkness. glancing over the balcony in which his bed chambers were perched upon, hades caught glimpse of the eerily lit emerald pool in which the spirits were swirling about in. he had lost count long ago on just how turn of the centuries he had spent watching the melancholy charade that repeated itself day after day. he didn’t mind – the consistency was even comforting.
a heavy sigh was emitted into the air as hades continued down the worn staircase that met the top of his balcony. his left hand slid along the banister, keeping his striking green gaze on the scene below him. there were few living creatures, or even gods for that matter, that had been to the depths of the underworld without teetering on the brink of life and death. it was hades, and solely hades who was able to thrive in such a environment for century upon century without having any wear and tear to show for it. from what he had gathered, persephone was less than pleased with the time she had to spend down here – the gloom and eeriness proved to be far too different from what she had been used to before their marriage. poseidon had never set foot in his underground lair and zeus did his best to stray away.
hades found his way into the main chambers of the underworld. it was through this point in the entire lair in which souls were brought it and rarely every out. settled in the middle of the corridor was a brilliantly carved chair, ornate in all of its features. it seemed fit for a king, or better yet, a god. hades presumed his usual spot in the tall-backed throne of a chair before his gaze darted to cerberus who had curled up comfortably on the counter. the side of the large, three headed monster made him chuckle at how peaceful he ultimately seemed – ironic, no? his fingers rapped against the armrests of his chair, softly pitter pattering to the motion of the souls wafting in the pool just in front of him. and who’s soul would he witness today?
